Power transistors based on gallium nitride and silicon carbide are very demanding for DC link capacitors. TDK has now developed a new dielectric which allows using film capacitors up to +125 °C instead of +105 °C. Additionally, TDK has optimized the winding design. We spoke with Dr. Lucía Cabo, Manager of Manager Basic R&D Film Capacitors, and Fernando Rodríguez from the Application and Modelling Group, both at TDK’s Aluminum and Film Capacitors Business Group.
